Our K-8 Outreach chairs organized hands-on DNA lessons with eight classrooms at Prairie Elementary in Woodland. Students got to make a DNA model and assist in performing DNA extraction on strawberries.
Thank you to our UCD grad student volunteers who made this possible! Abdallah Hashem, Erica Nielsen, Jasmine Esparza, Crystal Homicz, Johnny Vertiz, Jared Lee-Kin, Sage Madden, Nitin Beesabathuni, Ben Guthrie! Join us in making science fun for middle school students in the Woodland and Winters area through in-person STEM lessons (must be vaccinated). The commitment includes a 1hr prep session at UC Davis, then sessions Tuesday and/or Thursday 2:30-4:30pm (including travel time) at the middle schools. There will also be the opportunity to design and lead lessons, but volunteering first is advised. If you would like to help facilitate a lesson, please fill out this form and let us know here.
